This is a response
to irony in "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson. In this story a town is called to a lottery
where the men must pick for their family and then whoever's family is picked
the women of that family pick a lotto and then whoever picks the black dot is
then stoned to death by the community.
Some ironic points to this story are that the boys are gathering a pile of stones that will be used to kill someone, and yet they are doing it with happy faces and joyous hearts. Another ironic point is that Tessie Hutchinson arrives late because she realized it was the day of the lottery and she is the one that gets killed, ironic because if she had forgotten about the lottery she would not have picked the black and died.
One big ironic point is the Lottery itself. usually lotteries are held for prizes and if you win it is a good thing because then you can get things like cars, Lots of money, or even a house, But in this lottery if you win you get stoned to death

nice, you had most of the right components, but i think it was too short. I'd suggest making it longer when and if you get the time.

ReplyDeleteLike Morgan said, I would just work on expanding it and adding more details. It was good, otherwise.
